OFFICE HOURS:
Squint accepts the following routine vision plans: VSP, MetLife Vision and Guardian Vision plans. Squint also accepts Medicare for medical exams only. We are an out-of-network provider for all other plans and insurances, and will provide patients with itemized receipts to submit to carriers for reimbursement. Squint accepts payments from all FSA and HSA accounts.
Why don’t you take other insurance plans?
Prior to 1/1/16, we accepted additional plans. However, health insurance became increasingly complicated and the restrictions imposed by these plans became too burdensome for our small practice. As a result, and in order to maintain the quality of care and personalization that defines us, we had to stop processing claims directly with Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, UHC and Oxford.
What is the difference between medical insurance and a vision plan?
A vision plan typically covers your routine "wellness" exam including refraction for eyeglasses. It usually does not include any testing related to contact lenses, as they are considered elective. Medical insurance typically covers your exam related to any medical condition, such as allergies, dry eye and diabetes. It does not include any testing related to glasses or contact lenses.
